I got my eyes operated (ASA) about 1.5 years ago. The expected recovery time was 15 days. Tthe error in the vision is gone, but the corneal healing is not yet complete. Consequently, I suffer from double vision because of irregular cornea. Doctor says the process is taking time and will eventually complete, easing the double vision. However, I have little hope of further improvement as the ghosting has been persistent for many months now.

I would suggest that you go back to the eye doctor and have them perform a cycloplegic refraction. That would be the best way to determine if you are over-corrected. Good luck
I would recommend bringing a driver to your appointment. Typically vision should be clear enough to drive 1 week after PRK, but that is not the case for everyone. Vision may decrease slightly after the contact lenses are removed.
