I am noticing finer lines on my actual lip and I dont want a filler so I was thinking PRP may work at rejuvenating and reducing the appearence of the finer lines. I am 27 years old ex smoker. What are your thoughts?
Answer: Can PRP rejuvenate my lips?? Ask Dr Ellen First of all, congratulations on quitting smoking! And, yes, PRP is a great treatment for lips, especially at your age. PRP will act by building the tissue from the inside out, making it thicker, improving the microcirculation and stimulating the tissues with a variety of growth factors. Unlike fillers, PRP injections will only provide to you a modest volume change as it is not used as a filler but as a stimulant for your own tissue growth.Lip lines are a multifactoral problem, brought on by genetic traits, over animation (smoking, lip pursing), environmental injury (sun, wind) and volume loss.Another non-filler treatment to consider is using some of your PRP with a micropen to resurface your lip skin and introduce the PRP into the surface level of your skin. And/or add on a chemical peel to accomplish some skin tightening and exfoliation. These are more cost effective alternatives to lasers. In addition, a small amount of Botox to the lip will reduce some of the hyperanimation.Good luck!In good health,Ellen Mahony, MD

Answer: PRP Around Mouth Thank you for your message! PRP injections are a great option to help reduce the appearance of fine lines around the mouth by building collagen/elastin in the area. Typically multiple treatments are needed, spaced about 6-8 weeks apart. Another option to add to your regimen would include a small amount of Botox above the lip to help reduce resting lines over time and help prevent resting lines from forming! I would recommend a consultation with a provider in your area for further information!

Answer: PRP for Lip Rejuvenation You’re right on PRP. PRP, which uses your own body’s plasma rich concentrate of platelets, can help to improve the “healthiness” of your skin. It helps the body improve, and heal those lines, with a series of 3 to 4 shallow injections immediately beneath the skin. You’re also right that PRP is not a filler, but a path toward a better wellness of your skin.

Answer: Best Way to Rejuvenate Upper Lip Lines
I think the very best way to rejuvenate the lines above & around your mouth is with Fractional CO2 treatments, often layered with Irbium. Laser treatments tighten pores, and stimulate new collagen which will help fill in the lines. It takes about 10 days to heal from this and results are really impressive.

Answer: Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP)
There is no evidence that Platelet Rich Plasma PRP can induce any rejuvanative effect.
I think you need to investigate this treatment before committing.
