Wha is plasma rejuvenation treatment, how often needs to be done? what is final inprovment? what are side effects and recuperation time?
Answer: Plasma facial resurfacing for wrinkles and brown spots and tightening Wrinkles, sundamage and tightening sagging skin have been treated many years ago with dermabrasion, deep chemical peels and carbon dioxide laser resurfacing. These have considerable downtime but improve the skin's texture and coloration. A newer technology, uses plasma which is a burst of energy using radiofrequency (RF) to provide a thermal burst of energy into the dermis underneath the skin's surface. The skin above it is not removed until the next day when the treated damaged dermis lifts off and separates along with the overlying skin leaving a fresher face behind. The peeling continues for about 7 to 10 days, and one should plan to be staying at home for the first 5 to 7 days while the bulk of the healing is occurring. I have found in my NYC practice that the healing process is more comfortable than the older technologies because the non disturbed epidermis functions like a "bandage". By the time the skin starts to peel, the undersurface has started to heal.

Answer: What is Portrait Plasma Rejuvenation? Portrait® skin regeneration, "PSR" is a technique for resurfacing and rejuvenating skin. Unlike lasers which use light energy to target a specific component of the skin such as water, hemoglobin, or pigment, this device uses pulses of ionized inert nitrogen gas to alter structures below the surface of the skin, creating unique conditions for continuing regeneration and improvement in wrinkles, acne scarring, skin texture, tone, and discoloration. This technique preserves the skin's outer layers, which act as a protective "biological dressing" until new skin regenerates. Working below the surface of the skin, PSR creates the right conditions and natural growth factors for generating new skin and creating new collagen for continuous improvement in wrinkles, acne scars, skin tone and texture. Portrait® skin regeneration is FDA approved for all of these purposes. Clinical studies show continued improvements for as long as a year after treatment. It has a relatively poor rating of patient satisfaction on RealSelf only 25% to date approved !
