I read an NIH article from a 2016 study using Radiesse for upper arm lax, crepy skin that showed great promise. I am near Pittsburgh, PA. and wondered if there are any plastic surgeons using fillers in this way? Can fillers be used effectively in the upper arm instead of the more radical brachioplasty procedure?
Answer: Injectable Skin Quality Boosters May Be helpful For Improving Crepy, Crinkly Upper Arm Skin You are quite correct. A number of years ago already, Radiesse, usually diluted, was used to improve skin laxity and crepyness of the upper arms. It was presumed to be effective as a result of its ability to stimulate new, native collagen and elastic fiber synthesis via both a direct stimulatory mode and an indirect biostimulatory fashion.. It has since been learned that hyaluronic acid fillers also are capable of the latter by physically compressing aged fiber making cells (fibroblasts) into a healthier crescent shape in which they produce better quality and quantities of collagen and elastic fibers. So, nowadays, there are certain techniques, such as grid patterns, fanning patterns and microdroplets for injecting these fillers into the crepy skin of the arms (as well as into the face and elsewhere, as needed) In my Israel satellite office, where a far greater number of regulatory agency approved injectable skin quality boosters are available, I would use products, such Restylane Skin Boosters, Hydromax, etc, specifically designated for this purpose. In my NY office, I would opt for Restylane Silk for this purpose or Belotero Balance. Typically two to four treatment sessions at four to six week intervals (the time it takes to make new, native collagen and elastic fibers) are required to achieve optimal results. Make sure you consult with a board certified aesthetic physician and best of luck to you.

Answer: Treating upper arm crepey skin I think that you would benefit from placement of Sculptra in this area. It needs to be done 2-3 times. I would wait about 4 months between treatments. BodyTite is also an option.

Answer: Upper arms are crepey Hello jewel79:Skin on the arms becomes thicker and tighter with several different procedures, including the injection of Sculptra and Radiesse. There is less experience with the use of hyaluronidase acid fillers. Other procedures include Microneedling with PRP and radiofrequency tightening with ThermiTight, PellevFirm or ThermiSmooth. Results are maximized with topical medicated products such as retinoids, growth factors, and Alastin.Dr. Clark

Answer: Laxity and Crepey Skin Laxity of the skin, especially as it relates to the color of the skin, is part of normal aging and can be associated with weight loss. There are many ways to treat this effectively to set the skin back to a better structure. Sculptura and Radiesse, collagen stimulators, can be used to make the skin more youthful. There are also different topical agents that can be used to help this. Schedule a consultation with an experienced professional to determine which method will be best suited for you.

Answer: Radiesse Thank you for your question. You can use Radiesse to in the upper arm. It can be used to plump the skin in areas that are sunken and wrinkled. The microspheres of calcium within it work to pump the injected skin and also encourage your body to stimulate collagen in those areas. For more information, I recommend getting a in person consultation with a board-certified dermatologist.
