6 months post root canal, is recent bleeding around a crown normal that is not brought on by flossing, eating or drinking?

Had my first root canal about 6 months ago, and there is a permanent crown in place. recently have experienced excessive bleeding that I taste in my mouth, and then see dark blood pouring out over the top of the crown for the tooth. No pain. Is not brought on by flossing, eating, or drinking.
