A breast augmentation will increase your volume and projection, but only so much can be done regarding cleavage. I hope your breasts are naturally close together, because that is the best way to get cleavage. If they are naturally far apart, the augmentation will not necessarily make them close or touching. Your plastic surgeon will do a thorough exam and explain expected results. Good luck!

Your surgeon should determine what size and projection are necessary to give you your desired result based on your body's measurements. own breast anatomy. The point at which your pectoralis muscle inserts on your sternum
(or chest wall) is where your cleavage will begin. For example, small breasts that have their chest
muscles inserting close together may have pronounced cleavage. On the other
hand, larger breasts that have their muscles inserted a wider distance apart
could have little cleavage. I suggest you see a plastic surgeon that can
discuss your options and goals to make a plan that works with you. Good luck.

best advice you can receive is from an in-person consultation.  The amount of cleavage is somewhat dependent on your breast anatomy and the insertion point of your pectoralis muscles.  The size, profile, and shape of
the implant is based on your desired breast size/shape, your chest wall
measurements, and soft tissue quality.  This decision should
be based on a detailed discussion with equal input from both you
and your surgeon.   Make sure you specifically look
at before and after pictures of real patients who have had this surgery
performed by your surgeon and evaluate their results.   The most
important aspect is to find a surgeon you are comfortable with. I recommend
that you seek consultation with a qualified board-certified plastic surgeon who
can evaluate you in person.

Determining the idea breast size and matching that goal for the patient is the most difficult part of breast augmentation. It starts and ends with the patient.

We have all of our patients find 3 photos of their desired breast size. We ask for naked breast photos because clothing can obscure the true size (push up bras). Next, we consult with patients and go over the photos and take detailed breast measurements during a physical exam. Next, we using a sizing algorithm to determine a range of implants that will work based on the exam and the measurements.

Lastly, during the operation, we use silicone sizers in the operating room to see how the size actually looks in the breast. We sit the patient up in the operating room, while asleep of course, and compare the sizer result with their desired look photos. If it is too small, we start the process over with a slightly larger implant. We don't stop until we get the perfect match.

Of all of my breast augmentation patients, every one of them has been happy with their size due to this detailed and meticulous process. You don't want to invest time and money into a result that is either too big or too small.

You should visit a board certified plastic surgeon for an in-person examination and advice. Also, make sure your surgeon understands your goals.

It is important for patients to understand that cleavage is intimately related to a patient's particular anatomy. The spacing of the footprints of the breast on the chest wall will vary from one individual to the next. Ultimately, the goal is to center the implants on the patient's native breast tissue. When placed submuscular, the medial/middle limit is the sternal origin of the muscle. Wide sternum = greater separation of the breasts = less dramatic cleavage. This space can be narrowed (with some risk of synmastia) when the devices are placed subglandular or "over" the muscle. There is no muscle obstructing a medial push, however, there is a higher risk of over-dissection and midline migration of the implant (the dreaded "uni-boob").With regards to your specific question, a higher profile device is narrower but will project more. A wider device will create the illusion of closer spacing between the breasts (when placed subglandular). Most patients will fit into the "moderate +" category...but this will depend upon the measurements of your breast width. It is best to focus not on a number or cup but rather a look.As always, discuss your concerns with a board certified plastic surgeon (ABPS).

Hello,  the amount of cleavage you have after surgery is dependent on the gap between your breasts before surgery.  Your surgeon has to insert the implants under your breasts so if they are widely spaced, this is where they will put your implants.

The best advice would come from your plastic surgeon. Typically, breast measurements are taken and most surgeons will recommend a range in volume (cc's) that would look natural for you if that is the "look" you are going for. In my practice, I let patients try on sample implant to see what kind of implants looks best with their shape and size. I rarely go by cup size. Talk to your plastic surgeon.

Hi EvieThanks for your question and photo. There are a couple of points worth considering here. Firstly, your existing breast anatomy may simply not allow cleavage like this to be generated (it is governed by pectoralis muscle insertion, existing breast footprint, existing nipple location, breast development etc). This can be determined at the consultation with your Specialist Plastic Surgeon. Secondly, the appearance of cleavage in a push up bra is often very different to the appearance when naked. It would be a mistake to aim for such a small gap between the breasts when naked as this dramatically increases the risk of a deformity called synmastia. Again, this will be discussed during your consultation with the PS. From your photo I would recommend a round gel implant placed under the muscle. The decision made between smooth vs textured implants, MPP vs HP and incision type are all best made at your consultation when your chest measurements and ideal implant volume can be accurately determined. I most commonly use high profile implants in my practice. Ensure your Plastic Surgeon is a member of The Australian Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) with significant experience in this area. Now. That I can see the type of cleavage you are seeking, I would probably recommend a MPP implant.  The issue is that if you have them in a submuscular position, it will limit the amount of medial fullness due to the attachment of the pec major muscle.  So if your breasts are far apart, you will not be able to get this appearance.  If you have enough breast soft tissue to cover an implant in front of the muscle, the gap can be narrowed more but I would not recommend round implants in that instance so you would be better off with tear drop implants in that instance.  Note that the wider base width associated with a MPP implant will also give you more "side boob".
