Dear hadder08: The decision on which implant to use is up to the dentist treating you. Ostem are excellent implants. If your dentist recommends them, and knows how to use them well, then the right thing is being done. There are many implant companies on the market, and your dentist should use the one he is most comfortable with. The decision on the restorative material of which the crown is made, is also, not up to the patient, but to the doctor, and the restorative material which is appropriate for the situation at hand.Generally, a crown made of metal framework (including zirconia) is preferable in the posterior, back teeth, where strength is of paramount concern. Metal free porcelain crowns should be used in the interior, front area, where strength can and does take a backseat to aesthetic demands. Again, you as a lay person cannot make that decision. The dentist will, and should discuss it with you, however, he is the one to recommend what is most appropriate since he is responsible for the longevity of the work. Please discuss these issues with your dentist, and best of luck for your treatment.
