My gap seems to be opening up on both sides. Everything seemed to be closing and now spaces are popping up on both sides. I have no attachments on the top teeth and 4 on my bottom teeth.

If you were instructed to wear rubber bands and you have not complied chances are your teeth are not shifting as they were planned to. You may need another round of trays if your teeth haven't shifted properly. Only your treating doctor can tell you if you should start wearing the rubber...
