Can using a 1.5 Derma Roller on your face cause collagen break down?

Hello,I keep reading that you need at least 1.5 depth needles to make a difference in scarring but I've also read that you shouldn't use needle lengths of 1.5 or above on your face because it can cause collagen break down.

The FDA has rules regarding dermarollers. The sale of the derma rollers to the general public should not include any rollers that are longer than .25 millimeters. Anything longer than that should be to an esthetician or physician. In my experience, I have seen severe damage caused by rollers that are longer. For this reason we recommend .25 millimeter rollers to our patients. I know that there are others available on line.  Go online and look for pictures of severe results from the longer rollers. Thanks for the clarification of the FDA ruling Dr Rapaport. We can only recommend you use 0.25mm in the US, however in Australia, I get my patients to perform up to 0.5mm in SELECT areas. Anything above 0.5 mm, performed correctly will not only be painful, but will bleed.
