Question

I had ballon sinuplasty 3 weeks ago in both maxillary sinuses.I am still really congested and can't breath thru my nose. I'm taken steriods and am on antibiotics, I tried afrin one day and it still did not clear my sinus to breath. Could there still be swelling preventing drainage. Up to a couple days ago I still had dry bloody discharge. I've gone to my ent two times for follow up already.

Thanks for your question. While it is impossible to know what is going on without an exam, from what you say it does not seem that your congestion and infectious issues have been addressed with balloon sinuplasty alone. It many cases more traditional but still minimally invasive surgical techniques are needed to improve symptoms. Hope this helps.

It's hard to answer this without seeing you in person and performing an flexible endoscopic exam.  If you only had balloon sinuplasty without a septoplasty or other nasal work what you describe does seem unusual   I have performed many sinus operations over the last 25 years and most of my patients have a noticeable improvement in their breathing 2 days later after I remove the packs.
