Definitely with your oral surgeon first, but I would suggest either warm saltwater rinses, a solution of Chlorhexidine 0.12% rinse (aka Peridex) or a combination of. Your surgeon should have given you written post-op instructions, or he/she may have them on their website. Good luck!
We recommend salt water (saline) rinses after any type of oral surgery. It is the kindest type of solution to tissues. See link below for full instructions we share with our patients.
Hi:I would recommend to use warm salt water after implant surgery. If you are going to use hydrogen peroxide its best to inform your implant surgeon first.Best,Dr. Maddahi
Hi and thank you for your question. The answer to you question is a big no, as hydrogen peroxide could kill the healing tissues and promote an infection. Instead, use Chlorhexidine rinse to keep everything clean and to lower the bacterial count in your mouth. Please consult your surgeon. Good Luck!!Dr.Juan C. ArroyoOral and Maxillofacial Surgeon
Dilute the peroxide to one half using water to prevent irritation of the wound. Salt water is the preferred rinse for implants and extractions as directed by your dentist.
