Can tattoo removal using Q-switched Nd:YAG laser above the breast cause damage to breast implants?

Laser tattoo removal cannot interfere with breast implants because the treatment only targets the dermis and the energy dissipates at the depth of only a few millimeters. Breast implants are much deeper than the dermis and are unaffected by the laser. However, there is a concern with Q-switched lasers harming the dermis itself due to the tissue damage they cause. At Hall Plastic Surgery in Austin, TX we utilize the PicoSure laser to reduce or eliminate this risk. The PicoSure laser pulse is 100 times faster than the of a Q-Switched laser which makes it a much better choice for tattoo removal. Additionally, the picosecond pulse creats a powerful Pressure Wave that shatters ink into the smallest of particles which the body can easily absorb and remove.

Have no fear what so ever regarding using a laser when you have breast implants. The laser doesn't penetrate deep enough to cause a problem.
