Thanks FL34434 for your question! I understand how unsettling it is to find a new, dark spot—especially when you have a history of sunburns and a family connection to melanoma. You are doing the right thing by paying close attention to changes in your skin.
Your black dot could be a subcorneal hematoma (Blood Blister) which is very common on fingers. It’s a tiny speck of blood trapped under the skin, often caused by a pinch you might not even remember. By the way, any new, dark spot that appears suddenly needs a professional evaluation. While it could be something benign, your age and history put you in a category where "wait and see" isn't the safest strategy. Because of your family history and the sudden onset, you should schedule an appointment with a dermatologist for further evaluation or possible biopsy.

Thank you for your question and photographs. It's difficult to tell you what type of lesion your black dot is because it needs to be evaluated in person with a dermatoscope, which allows the dermatologist to assess for any abnormal or irregular characteristics under high maginification. If any are found, then a biopsy should be performed and sent to a laboratory. I highly recommend you consult with a board certified dermatologist to have your lesion evaluated and to discuss treatment options that best suit your needs. Take care and good luck.
