Why do some oral surgeons wire a jaw shut and other rubber band them after double jaw surgery?

A surgeon I interviewed wires jaw shut for 6-8weeks after double jaw surgery. I've heard others simple are banded shut 1 week or so and then have rubber bands after. Is there a difference?

The images are not ideal; but if you want a strong defined jawline extending from the angle/ear area to the chin, it can be done with a genioplasty combined with  jawline augmentation implants placed intraorally. Consult a surgeon who does that type of work

Sometimes as we grow that bones do not grow in a symmetrical fashion. I would recommend an evaluation with an Oral & Maxillofacial surgeon or Plastic surgeon in your area. An evaluation would determine where the problems are. It is most likely in growth of your jaw bone. There are several...
