Dear Drs Is there a significant difference between Morpheus8 and other radio frequency microneedling devices? I'm booked in at a hospital to have RF microneedling by a consultant dermatologist but I'm wondering if I should cancel and instead travel hours away (very inconvenient) to get Morpheus8. tell me that the morpheus8 is like comparing a Dyson vacuum with an EXCELLENT dupe Dyson vacuum?

That is a great question. I have tried  multiple microneedling devices over the years and I can't find one study that compares the results of one machine versus another. There are devices that are monopolar, bipolar, multipolar, coated needles, un-coated needles and I really don't think there is a clinical difference between these machines. My nurses who perform microneedling in my practice, tell me that oscillating needles (skinpen) seems to cause more trauma, therefore more repair and perhaps better results. The bottom line is that microneedling can under deliver in terms of results and I prefer laser resurfacing or chemical peels whenever it is indicated.
