The Orbera Balloon can be filled to 700ml and in our practice we typically fill to 600ml but it really depends on the size of the stomach and the patients BMI if I decide to fill it to 650ml.
The Orbera balloon can be filled to a maximum of 700 ml of saline solution. In practice, the volume of saline used to fill the balloon is typically between 400 and 700 ml, and the exact amount is determined based on the patient's individual needs and circumstances. Factors considered include the patient's height, weight, and overall health status. It's important to note that the filling procedure is performed under endoscopic guidance by a qualified healthcare professional to ensure proper placement and safety. The doctor will carefully monitor the patient's response throughout the filling process and adjust the volume accordingly.
Hello, I hope you are well. There is scientific evidence that there is no differece in weight lose in balloons filled more than 500ml. Therefore any amount beyond this point would be associated with the type of ballon and its requirements regarding placement.
Hi, thanks for the question!Officially, the Orbera balloon can be filled with anywhere between 400ml and 700ml of saline. In the pivotal US clinical study, the balloon was filled with between 500ml and 600ml of saline, which is what most providers will use. I typically recommend 600ml for all patients, unless you are shorter (say, less than 5 feet 2 inches), in which case a smaller volume may be better tolerated. Interestingly, you might think that a larger fill volume would lead to more weight loss, but it actually doesn't. A review of 80 studies (including 8,506 patients) showed that there was no relationship between fill volume (including up to 700ml) and total weight loss.
