That's something we deal with on an everyday basis and I can help you with an answer. So, if you are having ALL of your teeth removed, your surgeon and prosthetic specialist (periodontist/oral surgeon and prosthodontist) should do a full workup in their clinics to assess your bone. This starts out with a 3D CT scan, models, lab wax-ups and a full discussion on options. Option A- Four upper implants and three lower implants to support REMOVABLE dentures on top and bottom. This will cost you about $20,000 in surgical fees and another $10,000 in prosthetic fees. This assumes you DO NOT need bone grafting otherwise this may add another $5000 to $10,000 to the estimate. Option B-Five implants on top and five implants on bottom-you can have a FIXED prosthetics with such an option which only your specialist can remove to clean up every couple years. This would cost $25,000 for surgical implant placement and then another $25,000 for prostheticsOption C- 6-8 implants on top and 6-8 on bottom- if you have the bone for this, you can have porcelain bridges top and bottom which you will not remove. They are FIXED/PERMANENT. Cost could be over $100,000 for complete top and bottom or more if you need complex bone grafting. The reality is that we see as many people opting for Option C as for option A. And most people who choose option C are not rich but have simply suffered for many years and will do almost anything to be able to eat and function properly again.Good luck and all the best! Hope this works for you.
