Abutment showing through gum line. Any suggestions? (photos)

Question

I am a few days away from placing my permanent crown for a dental implant. I have noticed the healing abutment showing through my gum line, very visible and can touch metal. I am assuming this is due to some gum tissue that was slight swolen starting to go back to normal. Is this normal to see the metal? I don't want this to fail after all this time (I have gone through 3 stages

I do not think that this is anything to worry about.  Your doctor should use a Zirconium abutment that is white and this should block it out.  It should turn out nice in the end.  Best of luck.

It's difficult to really see anything in the pic. If you have pain, this would not be normal. But if you are ok, go see your surgeon for the big reveal of the implant itself and then you will have another abutment that is surrounded by the gums. Once a temporary crown is placed, you will get a better idea of the appearance and how it will look. But not to worry at this point.

It is hard to see from the picture, but it appears to look fine. The healing abutment that you are seeing is a thick metal cap that screws into the implant. That part is removed before putting in the permanent crown. The actual beginning of your implant is far below the gums, invisible to the eye. So when the final crown goes on you will not see that metal part anymore.

i think you have a confused term, you have a closure cap, not a healing cap, healing caps are set before placing crowns and they are always showing, they are intended to shape the gum , and give a proper layout of the gum, your doctor might even perform a temporary tooth on top of this healing caps, to start giving a the final shape,now, you have the space for 2 teeth, on front area, and you re just mentioning 1, you must have 2 implants here, and the gum shape on anterior area is very important, ask your doctor, what about the gum shape with healing abutments?this is a aesthetical  area, front teeth need to be perfect.
