I am a few days away from placing my permanent crown for a dental implant. I have noticed the healing abutment showing through my gum line, very visible and can touch metal. I am assuming this is due to some gum tissue that was slight swolen starting to go back to normal. Is this normal to see the metal? Thank you for your question. When tissue heals, swelling goes down and sutures can get loose after 5-7 days. I would not worry about it, but for the piece of mind, call you doctor and let him check and make sure.
