I am worried that this will cause my teeth become more sensitive that they already are. I also don't like the way they may look after this type of surgery. Is there any alternative to this invasive surgery?

You can follow the conservative side and initially start scaling and root planning and irrigation and revaluation to see it this will do the trick. If it will, then I would continue with this procedure as long as you are compliant patient and return regularly for treatment. You can also opt for Laser Periodontal Treatment. It is an effective and very invasive way to correct this condition without resection and removal of tissue. No sutures, no scalpels and very little pain. Hope this helps!

Osseous surgery has been the standard of care for years, but there is a rapidly growing segment of dentists and periodontists who are getting some excellent results with gum laser treatment.. I would suggest you contact the Academy of Laser Dentistry and find the name of a dentist or periodontist who offers this mode of treatment in his practice and consult with him as to whether or not you might be a candidate for laser periodontal treatment rather than osseous surgery.
