I had previously been getting 35% glycolic peels weekly. I purchased a 50% glycolic peel online. I figured I was used to 35% so it would be ok. I left it on for 6-7 minutes and washed it off thoroughly. A few areas were left white and two spots a chunk of skin just came right off. I have been applying moisturizer and aloe liberally and I bought Aquaphor today. My cheeks feel like they will definitely peel. I am scared my new skin peeling again so quickly will cause damage. What should I do?

It is possible you had a reaction to the chemical peel and best to go back to the person who carried out the procedure for the best outcome. Redness and swelling are expected side effects but should not last longer than a few hours post treatment. All the best,Dr Davin LimDermatologist
If you have pain from peels, pre-treat with numbing cream and wash off completely prior to the procedure. If you have such pain however, I suggest going to a different place for treatment. Go to someone who is an expert in the field to limit such pain and irritation from the procedure.....
I suggest seeing a cosmetic dermatologist to evaluate your skin to determine what wound care is needed at this point. It would not be good to use tretinion and/or hydroquinone if you are still healing or are scared. Best, Dr. Emer.
