Are these “chiclet” veneers and can they be reshaped and shortened, or would they have to be completely redone? (photos)

I had these porcelain veneers done three years ago. Lately I have been feeling that they are too long and fake looking and do not go with my face (I have a petite face). I am also concerned that they look masculine. Can they be reshaped or do they have to be completely redone?

I would not classify your veneers as "Chiclets". It would be extremely difficult to make too many judgments from just these two pictures; however, if you are feeling like the veneers are too long and too masculine then they more than likely are. By simply reshaping your current veneers you can make rather dramatic changes. A simple test to know if the veneers are the proper length is your upper teeth should lightly touch your lower lip while saying "55". My personal belief is that your veneers can be saved with some simple adjustments but naturally your personal preferences are always the final determinant. Good luck!

Veneers that may lack translucency and/or anatomy or veneers that are more square-ish shaped may be referred to as "chiclets", like the candy. You veneers are pretty and seem to be the correct length according to where they fall on your lower lip. A full face picture would be more telling. I'm sorry to hear after 3 years you are having doubts. If I were in your shoes, I'd definitely pursue having them shortened a bit and some slight reshaping on the front. But depending on what type of porcelain was used will determine the outcome of this. The type of porcelain used is generally determined by the price you paid. If you are looking for a big change, it would require re-doing your veneers. Hope this helps and good luck!
