Laser Genesis for acne and acne scars?

Question

I has the laser done a couple days ago but i had spot treatment on and moisturizer on, the doctor did not clean it before doing the treatment. I am worried ! Can this cause any damage or side effect ?

Hi, Thank you for your question. Cleansing of the skin is always a good practice prior to the administration of any aesthetic treatment of the skin. As the skin was not penetrated, the risk to you of an adverse event is low. Hope that this helps put your mind at ease.

It is important to completely clean the skin prior to treatment, an unfortunate mistake by your provider or their office staff. I wouldn't expect to see any detrimental effects after the treatment but it could be that the results won't be as significant because the laser energy was absorbed by leftover product on your skin.

Prior to almost any laser treatment, the face should be completely cleansed and prepped with alcohol.  If you had products on your skin during the Genesis, it's likely that you won't get the expected results because the laser energy is less able to penetrate into the skin.  However, especially with Genesis which is a very mild treatment, you should not have any damage.
