Is it ok to use a Juul vapepen after septoplasty surgery?

I had my septoplasty yesterday and my doctor who has a great reputation and been doing this for 30 years ago said it was ok to use a Juul, a vape pen. I am just wondering and looking for a second opinion. Thank you.

Thank you for your question. In my practice, I tell my patients to stop smoking at least 2 weeks before and 2 weeks after surgery. This is due to the fact that nicotine constricts blood vessels, which can lead to tissue necrosis, ultimately impairing wound healing. Also, it increases the pressure in your lungs which can increase the risk for a nosebleed. However, I would follow your operating surgeon’s recommendations about this and contact them for more information. Best of luck!
