I have read that people with existing autoimmune disorders should not get a breast augmentation. Does that include celiac? I really want to get the procedure but am worried that I will be guaranteed to get other auto immune diseases. I should also note that I eat gluten free and have no symptoms associated with celiac.

Answer: I am 28, very healthy, and have had celiac for 7 years -- does this mean I should not get a breast augmentation? Part of the challenge is that the science studying long-term effects of celiac and autoimmune disorders is lacking. There’s no hard scientific consensus behind breast implant illness and celiac. In the vast majority of circumstances, breast augmentation patients get a satisfactory outcome. They’re very happy and everything works out. Consult with a board certified plastic surgeon via email or Skype to further discuss your concerns.

Answer: BA candidate Dear Celebrated133738, you might need a clearance from your doctor before the surgery. If you are considering a surgery, I would suggest you to consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination you will get more information and recommendations.
