What is better, dentures or dental implants for a 24 year old with a lot of teeth damage?

Hello Jbxx,Without an exam with x-rays it is difficult to determine the best course of treatment for you. Unless you have been told by a dentist you need all of your teeth removed I wouldn't recommend it since you are young. If the roots of your teeth are healthy you can cosmetically enhance your smile with crowns or veneers. I suggest setting up a consultation with a dentist in your area and see what they recommend for you, If you find you do need your teeth removed, then dental implants over dentures is the way to go. Typically dentures for the upper are more comofortable than the lower because the upper has good suction, but the doesn't have much to hold on to and tends to float around in the mouth. Implants are permanent and won't slip.Best of luck.

Getting dentures when you’re 24 is a bad idea even if your insurance doesn’t cover implants. As soon as teeth are extracted bone loss starts to occur. This bone loss will continue for the rest of your life. As you get older, you may not even be able to continue to wear a denture due to bone loss. Your best option is to see an oral surgeon to learn if you are a good candidate and have enough bone to get dental implants. Today, implants are almost always a better choice than any type of traditional denture. There are many different ways of replacing missing teeth with implants, so find out what's available to you first.
