Tattoo removal with PicoSure laser. Is it safe when I'm pregnant?

The PicoSure laser, as with many other lasers do not directly affect other tissues and there isn't anything that is technically absorbed (although the pigment of the tattoo is broken down and resorbed).I do not know what CynoSure says about their official recommendation, but these days the typical recommendation for most treatments is to wait until after the pregnancy.  Depending on the location of the tattoo, size etc some doctors may begin the treatment before your delivery date.

Thank you for your question. There is no evidence to suggest PicoSure is dangerous while pregnant. However, I recommend waiting till the pregnancy is over before another treatment. Please make sure you seek treatment from a board-certified dermatologist. 

At our center we do not treat women who are pregnant or nursing with PicoSure. There simply is not enough data to definitively say that the treatment is safe for pregnant women, so we err on the side of caution. I would not have treatment until you have delivered the baby and have stopped breastfeeding if that is something you choose to do. Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy!
