FUT hair transplant 1 year growth, baby hairs and hair fall.

Question

I am at 1 year after FUT 3500 grafts. 80% of the transplanted hair have come. 50% have thickened and grew long & 30% of them are still looking like baby hairs. They are growing slow. Hope in next 3-4 months they will thicken. I am seeing some hair fall (30-50 hairs). I also see some of the transplanted hair falling out after growing long (and some baby hairs, which came up). I am not taking finasteride. Is this hair fall of transplanted grafts normal, and i believe its part of normal cycle?

You need to re-consult with your hair restoration professional to see if you need to put on finasteride for halting of further hair loss.

Daily hair loss up to 100 hairs is normal. Certainly 30-50 hairs is not excessive. Use minoxidil 5% on the transplanted area - this may help hair to be healthier. Certainly taking finesteride will help in the long term.

At one year there should be no baby hairs but good adult terminal hairs with full thickness of the hair shafts.  It sounds like you have had a failure of the transplants to some degree and you should return to meet with your surgeon
