I got my braces off 5 years ago and wore a retainer at night ever since. My smile was beautiful. A week ago my dog chewed it up and I got a new one. I told them it didn't fit and was pushing my teeth back and they didn't listen. They told me to wear it 24/7 for a few days and now my teeth look terrible. Can I stop wearing the retainer and my teeth go back to the smile I'd obtained that I've loved for so many years?

Even in adults, by improving the angulation of the upper front teeth, the lower jaw does move into a better position. I have seen this improv even without the use of elastics. You could use Invisalign or fixed orthodontic braces to straighten your teeth.
One of the hardest things to keep corrected is a space between the two upper front teeth...that is why your doctor glued the wire. I am going to bet that the wire is loose or stretched...otherwise the space would stay closed!Go see your doctor!
You will need to visit with an orthodontist to discuss correcting your midline and creating space to place an implant in the space of your missing lateral. This will give you the symmetry and normal appearance you desire.
