I have a cross bite that I would like to fix but I'm not willing to go down the surgical route. Is there any possibility of getting it corrected or improved, even in a camouflage way, without having to have jaw surgery? The most part I care is the cross bite in my front teeth as it is obvious when I talk/smile. So if braces can correct that part, it will be great.

You can undergo orthodontic / braces treatment at any age. With age only issue is slow tooth movement and that results in little prolonged treatment duration. You can opt for aligners [invisible, painless]as an option.
While it is true, irreversible removal of enamel followed by orthodontic movement CAN shift a midline, there is a concern that the teeth will STAY shifted. Moving a tooth 4 mm is one thing, and any "settling" after braces are removed is insignificant, up to 1/2 mm. This won't be noticed. ...
