I am African American. I have been using Retin A for 2 and a half months and my acne has gotten worse. I now have painful and hard spots and the hyperpigmentation seems to be worse. Would you recommend I stop using the product?

Tretinoin causes surface drying and sun sensitivity only. It wil not effect internal organs. Theoretically it should not be used in a pregnant woman but it's absorption is minimal.

Thank you for your question. Using retin-a, or other retinoic acids cannot cause conjuctivitis as this is caused by a bacteria. Derivatives of vitamin a (retin-a, etc), however, can cause irritation to the skin, especially the delicate eye area. My best advice would be to apply outside of the...
