Is Genius RF less likely to cause grid marks than Infini RF? Is it more user-friendly/help minimize complications?

I’ve heard of a lot of people suffering grid marks after Infini, but does the newer device Genius RF minimize this risk? Also, does it help the user determine how deep/what depth is safe on the patient’s skin in each particular area?

I have probably the most experience with both Infini and Genius in the US. I was involved in the FDA trials with the Genius. There are less side effects, less downtime, and less discomfort with the Genius. The Genius is far more accurate with energy delivery and has better coagulation so heating of the upper layers of the skin is less, so grid marks are less. User error can always occur and that is probably the only reason I see this now. In almost all the cases of grid marks, they resolve without any sequela. There are preset depths and energies with the Genius which are very safe, but the operator has the ability to change them as they evaluate the patient for skin type, degree of correction required, and skin thickness. Impedance feedback is a key feature that adjusts the energy delivery depending on the resistance of the tissue encountered. Results are better with Genius for this reason.

I do agree that Dr Weiner has the most experience in theses devices. Completely agree that the Genius is a HUGE step up from the previous model.Microneedling RF is an extension of microneedling with ‘energy’. Generation one devices such as Dermapen/ Skin Pen etc. use needles without heat to remodel collagen. Generation Two devices are microneedles that are not insulated, hence heat is delivered along the length of needles. Examples include Secret RF and Intensif. Generation Three devices use insulated needles to deliver heat at the point of the needle. Examples include Infini RF, as well as Genius. 
Newer generation devices will generally give better outcomes, however with insulation, the safety of microneedling RF devices is usually better than generation two machines. With insulation the incidence of skin colour darkening and ‘grids’ secondary to ‘stamping’ is less, however it is largely technique dependent. 
Microneedling RF should be viewed as a tool to be incorporated in the suitable clinical context. As with most other ‘fractional technology’ 3-5 sessions spaced 3-6 weeks apart will give the best results. Be guided by your specialist.  All the best,
