Will Finasteride stop your hair loss. In about 8 or of 10 finasteride slows things down. Finasteride riverses hair loss in 1 of 10 and does nothing in 1 of 10. Additional products can help like WNT-ACT and Minoxidil.
This requires an in-person evaluation. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with a hair loss expert to go over your condition and advise you on best treatment options. There are great non-invasive options like prp/progesterone and/or hair transplantation. See an expert. Best, Dr. Emer

Androgenetic Alopecia (AGA) is the most common form of hair loss. There is a gradual shrinkage of the hair follicle which occurs under the influence of androgen hormones. Basically, the 5-alpha reductase enzyme converts testosterone to dihydrotestosterone (DHT) in scalp hair follicles. DHT causes the gradual transformation of large hair follicles to a finer and shorter hair (this process is called “miniaturization”). Finasteride is a medication that decreases levels of DHT by blocking the 5-alpha reductase enzyme. It is FDA-proven to be a very safe and effective treatment of androgenetic alopecia in men.In the majority of people, Finasteride can help stabilize or prevent further hair loss. In a lesser percentage of people, Finasteride can potentially help reverse miniaturization. Please note that everyone has a different response/success rate with this medication. The decision to use Finasteride is wise for patients with androgenetic alopecia (particularly younger patients who still have a good amount of hair on the scalp) as the medication has the potential to slow the thinning process. In order to determine if this medication is a good treatment option for you, I recommend an in-person evaluation by a hair transplant specialist.
Finasteride is a powerful weapon in slowing down the hair loss and promoting hair growth. It is not for every patient with hair loss. It is very effective for certain patients. I would consult with a hair restoration surgeon near you and review the risks and benefits.
It's highly variable, but 90 % will benefit to some degree with 40 % or so experiencing some regrowth. Be sure to see an expert in hair loss.
