After using Doxycycline, how long should I wait before I can get Laser Hair Removal?

I've been on doxycycline for a while maybe a year and I know it cause skin to become more sensitive to the sun and UV rays, how long must I be off the drug before I can get laser hair removal?

It would depend on the laser hair removal device, but a week should be sufficient. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with a laser hair removal expert. Keep in mind, it will take a series of treatments for improvement. See an expert. Best, Dr. Emer

Doxycycline is one the drugs that makes your skin more sensitive to the laser. It is not always possible to stop this during treatments. With proper adjustment of the settings and watching for skin reaction, I am able to treat while on the drug. If you want to it to be out of your system, a week is the answer.

There are several devices for hair removal to include IPL, Alex and YAG, most of which are not in the visible spectrum or UV spectrum.  If you want to be conservative, you  can stop one week before your first treatment.
