There is a brownish stain on my veneers. Is there a way to remove it?

I had my 6 front teeth done with veneers. I noticed that the veneers had stains on the back. It's like a brownish in color. But when I tried to brush it, nothing happens. I only have my veneers for 4 months. I drink coffee 4-5 cups a week. Will this stain can be removed? Thank you

Hi Cuppycakes...I am so sorry that after 4 months you have brown stains in the back of your teeth.  It could be from not brushing enough in that area and on a regular basis. Most people, when they brush to a good job on the front to the teeth and very little on the back sides of the teeth. Plaque and stain will accumulate in that area.  If brushing does not seem to help, I would suggest talking with your dentist and having him polish these areas and maybe this will remove the discoloration. This should NOT have happened after only four months!Follow through with your dentist until you resolve this problem and you are happy with your new veneers because you should be!

It is possible for stains to appear on porcelain especially if there is some surface porosity present. This may be able to be lightly buffed. Often the more common place for stains involving veneers is around the edges where the porcelain meets the tooth. Ask your dentist to determine which this is and how to remove it. Good luck.

Staining can occur on veneers but can usually be removed from ceramic or porcelain veneers.  Bonded veneers can discolor over time but usually not in 4 months.  Try rubbing stain with dry white washcloth.  If it comes off you will see stain on the washcloth.This is a sign you need to do better day to day hygiene.  There can also be stains where the veneer meets the tooth.  This is more a problem on no prep veneers where the edges are not hidden.Go in to your dentist first and have them polish away stain and then work with hygienist to establish better cleaning methods.
