Skin still dark after one week of Pico Laser for pigmentation. Should I be worried?

Hello there. I have done pigmentation laser using Pico for my 2 dark spots around my eyes last week..exactly 7 days ago. The scabs has peeled off but now I realise that the skin is still dark. I have consulted my dermatologist yesterday and he said I need to wait further for full results. How long I need to wait as I'm kinda worried. I am an Asian with mix parentage (Chinese-Indian) so my doctor said Pico is the best for my skin n assured one treatment is enough for me. Shall I be worried?

Without photos, it’s hard to assess. It’s not unheard of for patients to experience some temporary darkening after laser treatment. Please discuss your concerns with your dermatologist, who will be able to provide aftercare instructions to follow to improve your results.

i probably should not be so blunt, but you need at least 3 treatments with the Picosure laser. you should definitely pre-treat with 4-8% hydroquinone for at least 2 weeks before you start the Picosure and you should continue through all of your treatments. you must use an excellent sunblock or you will almost certainly get your hyper-pigmentation back. my wife, who is not Asian, needed 4 treatments with the picosure laser. She had terrible hyper-pigmentation but now her skin looks great.david berman md
