Invisalign button with no space in tray, is this normal or should the buttons be removed?

I am on tray 16 of my Invisalign and have just noticed that the buttons in my two lower teeth no longer have button spaces in my new trays. The trays are flat and seem to squish over the buttons. Is this normal or should the buttons be removed??

Dear chn2009,
Thank you for posting your question on RealSelf.  I will do my best to provide and answer with the information provided.  
I recommend calling your Invisalign treating doctor, because the attachments do need to be removed.  Sometimes Invisalign removes attachments during the sequence of the aligners.

Hi!  You are very observant.  It is good to know what is going on with your teeth and your mouth.  You are correct in thinking that if there is no space for the button in the tray, the buttons should be removed.   Your trays are custom fitted for each little movement and if a tray does not fit accurately, (stretched or pulled) then the programmed movement may not fully occur.  Please call your dentist ASAP to have this situation corrected. And enjoy your emerging new smile!
