Should there be any days to avoid using hydroquinone before or after laser hair removal to avoid any side effects like more hyperpigmentation?

It is recommended to discontinue the use of skin lightening creams such as hydroquinone at least 2 weeks prior to treatment. I would advise to stop using hydroquinone during the whole duration of your laser hair removal sessions to avoid any adverse reactions or skin discolorations. A test spot is highly suggested before treating skin types IV-VI. It is always best to educate yourself of the risks of using skin lightening products before using them.

You should avoid all alpha hydroxy and beta hydroxyl products (AHA/BHA), hydroquinone,  retinoids, Tazorac, and Differin for 7 days before treatment.

Hi there,

You should stop using HQ at least 4 to 5 days before your LHR treatment.  Also if you are using Retin A you should discontinue that as well.
