I will be getting my implants replaced (going from 225 CC silicone to 190 CC silicone). I seemed to have lost some breast tissue on my left side so the doctor will add fat from my thighs to add some volume. How much fat is typically taken? Will he likely remove it from both thighs so I'm not uneven? Lastly, assuming the liposuction is minimal what will the recovery for that be like? Will I need to were compression stockings? I have my preop next week but I'm growing impatient for answers.
Answer: Surgery I would suggest calling your surgeon's office and asking these questions. Your surgeon who has examined you will be the best one to say how much fat is needed and where it will be taken specifically.

Answer: Fat transfer Dear LKL007, fat transfer breast augmentation is a viable alternative for women who desire larger breasts without the use of implants. Fat transfer is also widely used in reconstruction of the breast after a mastectomy or lumpectomy. It can also be very effective in correcting the size and shape of the breasts due to genetic problems such as tuberous breast or Poland Syndrome, two conditions that look like misshapen or underdeveloped breasts. In addition, the following scenarios are also reason to consider breast fat grafting:• If you have chest areas that appear creased and sunken• If you desire more permanent correction than is provided by temporary fillers• If you wish to improve your body contour, revise scars, fill bodily depressions and rejuvenate the natural curve of your breasts• To fill in contour irregularities or hide obvious signs of breast implantsYou should discuss your concerns with a board certified plastic surgeon and make sure your surgeon understands your concerns and your breast augmentation goals. Only after a thorough examination you will get more information and recommendations. Answer: Thank you for your question. I think most of us would agree that since you already have a plastic surgeon, it would be wise to communicate with your doctor with regard to all of the specific questions you have since all of us tend to have our own specific recommendations with regard to peri-operative and post-operative protocols, recommendations, and instructions. It seems that all of your questions deserve a follow up consultation with your plastic surgeon and I would encourage you to direct all of these questions to him or her. If you find that your surgeon or the office are hard to reach, or not adequately addressing your concerns, that might be an indication that a second opinion might be in your best interest. Best of luck to you.

Answer: What should I expect concerning my upcoming breast augmentation with fat grafting? Undergoing breast augmentation with fat grafting involves several steps and considerations. Here's what you can generally expect before, during, and after the procedure:Before the Procedure:1. Consultation: You'll have a consultation with your plastic surgeon to discuss your goals, expectations, and medical history. Your plastic surgeon will evaluate your breast size, shape, and tissue quality to determine if you're a suitable candidate for fat grafting.2. Pre-operative instructions: Your plastic surgeon will provide you with specific instructions to prepare for the procedure, which may include avoiding certain medications, adjusting your diet, and quitting smoking if applicable.3. Pre-operative assessments: You may undergo pre-operative tests such as blood tests, mammograms, or breast imaging to ensure you're in good health for surgery.During the Procedure:1. Anesthesia: Breast augmentation with fat grafting is typically performed under general anesthesia, although local anesthesia with sedation may be an option in some cases.2. Liposuction: Fat is harvested from donor areas of your body such as the abdomen, thighs, or flanks through liposuction.3. Processing: The harvested fat is processed to remove excess fluids and impurities, leaving behind purified fat cells suitable for grafting.4. Grafting: The purified fat is injected into the breasts using small cannulas, strategically placed to achieve the desired volume and shape.5. Incisions: Incisions for liposuction and fat injection are typically small and strategically placed to minimize scarring. After the Procedure:1. Recovery: You'll be monitored in the recovery area until you're stable to return home. You may experience swelling, bruising, and discomfort in the donor and recipient areas, which can be managed with pain medication and compression garments.2. Follow-up appointments: You'll have follow-up appointments with your plastic surgeon to monitor your healing progress and address any concerns.3. Results: Initial results may be visible immediately after surgery, but final results typically become apparent as swelling subsides and the transferred fat settles into place over several weeks to months.4. Lifestyle adjustments: Your plastic surgeon will provide instructions on post-operative care, including limitations on physical activity, wearing supportive garments, and avoiding certain medications or supplements that may interfere with healing. It's essential to closely follow your plastic surgeon's post-operative instructions and attend all scheduled follow-up appointments to ensure optimal healing and long-term results. Be prepared for potential fluctuations in breast size and shape as the transferred fat settles and integrates with your existing breast tissue.
