Hi Sassy, if you've had laser treatment and the tattoo is not gone, we would suggest another practitioner rather than excision. Excision creates horrific scarring and often the need for skin grafts and the resulting scar is always much worse than the tattoo. Keep in mind that if your tattoo is multicolored that you will likely need three different wavelengths of q-switched lasers, 1064, 532 and either 755 or 694. If the practice you were going to for removal did not have all these wavelengths, it may explain why they were not able to remove it. Also, the practitioner performing treatment is just as important as the technology so knowledge and experience can also be to blame for a failure with laser treatments. We have seen the excision scars and the regret tattoo removal patients have had after excising a tattoo so we would never recommend it to anyone. Best of luck.
