Can my recessed jaw and smile be treated with orthodontics? (Photo)

Question

I have a recessed chin, and my bottom jaw wants to be out farther than it can be when I have my teeth all the way together, because my top teeth are in the way. When I just touch my teeth together, my bottom teeth comfortably come to rest a little beyond my top teeth. I want to fix this both because it’s uncomfortable and because I don’t like the way my recessed chin looks. Also, when I smile, my top teeth barely show. Can these issues be fixed with braces or some other treatment?

The underlying problem is an underdeveloped mid-face and maxilla.  Three dimensional expansion of your maxilla will create a fuller wider smile display, a better airway and improved forward head posture.

As you expand your maxilla the mandible will gradually move to a proper position on its own.
