Can owning a dog cause swelling to my nose after open Rhinoplasty?

Question

For over a month now the top and bottom of the tip of my nose have been slightly swollen (round and thick-feeling). I recently got a puppy and am wondering if there there could be any connection at all? I've had him for about 4 weeks now, however the swelling around my tip started about a week before I got him. I'm just concerned because it has not gone down. I'm about 1 year post op now, and do not have any allergies to animals that I know of. I really appreciate your help!

It sounds like you have post op swelling. Allergic rhinitis will cause inflammation internally.

Dear Awess244, It sounds like you have some post operative swelling that needs to be checked by your surgeon. Your puppy should have nothing to do with your tip swelling. Take good care of your new puppy they are a family member and need lots of love. Best regards, Michael V. Elam, M.D.

It is doubtful that your swelling is due to your puppy.  Enjoy your new puppy, and follow up with your Plastic Surgeon to address your concerns.
