Can I do laser hair removal while on prednisone 10 mg?

Prednisone itself can cause skin rashes and/or hives.  In addition, it has immunosuppressive properties.  While there is nothing specifically stated about prednisone and any kind of light or heat sensitivity, we at Monroe Comprehensive Laser Center in Monroe, Mi always caution patients to wait for laser treatment when they are on new, even temporary new medications to make sure they are not experiencing any skin side effects first.  Having said that, the prednisone may suppress the effects of the laser on the root bulb of the hair and you may not get the results that you desire.

You will probably have a less effective treatment because the inflammation of the hair follicles will be reduced and therefore less injury to the hair generating cells. You won’t be more sensitive the laser. LLLT is fine but again, less effective.
