Can I have a glycolic peeling while using retinoid acid?

Hi and thanks for your question.  If you truly have a darker skin tone as you indicated, you will definitely want to be cautious with chemical peels.  Make sure you go to a board certified dermatologist and get their in-person evaluation and recommendations before embarking on any peels.  Some people get significant post inflammatory hyperpigmentation or brown discoloration on the skin due to the heat and inflammation from the peel.  If you do decide to do a glycolic acid peel, start slowly and do not use a high percentage of acid until you see how your skin responds.  Don't risk a burn or pigment that was not there before, but generally low concentrations of glycolic acid are fairly safe.  Another option you might add to your daily regimen is a low concentration glycolic acid wash for the face.  That will give you some of the benefits without overdoing it.  Best of luck!
