Can I fake tan the areas that aren't treated (laser hair removal) ?

Hi Xirenex,You can safely use self-tanner or get a spray tan on your body while undergoing laser hair removal on your face. There is no danger involved in sun exposure immediately after laser hair removal (although that's assuming you always wear spf30+ & sunprotection clothing). The issue is getting a tan BEFORE laser hair removal because the laser targets pigment. A deeper tan causes the laser energy to be absorbed too "soon" by the pigment cells (melanocytes) higher up in the skin. For laser hair removal to be effective, you want the laser to hit those deeper pigment cells near the base of the hair follicle ("hair bulb"), where the stem cells also reside.    To simplify, just make sure to go to a board-certified dermatologist with specific experience in lasers so that you will get the most "bang for your buck" with the least chance of a potential adverse event. Hope this helps!Dr. Kiripolsky
