In excruciating pain after Smart Lipo. Should I go to the ER?

I just had smart Lipo don't today on my upper and lower abdomen as well as flanks. I was ok when I left the dr but now I am in the worst pain. I am unable to walk properly, sit up or even get up to use the bathroom. The pain is intense. I keep taking oxycodone to help with the pain but it's not doing much. Should I go to the ER? Is this normal?

Discomfort after lipo is typically experienced as muscle soreness and swelling discomfort. Severe pain after liposuction is a sign of something gone wrong and should be assessed immediately. Go to the ER and notify your surgeon on your way there.

This is not normal post smartlipo and you should contact your surgeon immediatly. anyone who has a body contouring practice should be on call 24/7 and have his/her cell phone avlb to you for contact.  Best, Dr. Emer.

Some discomfort a few hours after SmartLipo is to be expected once the local anesthetic wears off but the excruciating pain you are describing is not normal. You should be evaluated by the surgeon immediately; if this is not possible, you must be evaluated in the ER.

You should contact your surgeon immediately and notify then of your situation.  If your surgeon can't be reached,  then, yes, you should go the the closest ER.   You should have a responsible adult drive you or call 911 for help.  Best wishes.
