How Long Do Lumineers Often Last?

The average veneers lasts 7-15 years depending on various factors such as technique used, laboratory used, patient habits (grinding, clenching, biting), patient hygiene and diet.

Any cosmetic treatment ought to last a reasonable time, but all dental work does wear out.

Lumineers (or any other type of porcelain veneer) ought to be long lasting. Depending upon your bite and how well you care for your teeth, they could last 5-20 years. ALL cosmetic dentistry needs a little caution and great care at home to provide MANY years of great, trouble-free results.

In all most all cases it has been suggested that we quote patients that we would like to see things last 7-12 years. In most cases the veneer is not the problem but the tooth underneath good luck

We get this question very often in our office when patients are deciding between veneers or Lumineers.  Our office does very few Lumineers cases because we don't feel confident in the aesthetic results or longevity of them.  We have many patients that come to our office with previously done Lumineers that constantly come off, chip, break, and need to be repaired.  Most last less than 5 years.  Generally the patients come to us to correct their smiles with a more permanent and lasting fix by techniques including porcelain veneers, 3/4 laminates, or crowns.  There are new technology that is beginning where they have veneer/Lumineer-like hybrids that would offer a good intermediary between going completely permanent and having the lack of aesthetics that Lumineers provide.  These hybrids should be available in the next year or two.  Best wishes!
