Side of mouth cracked and split. Is it normal for Invisalign to cause this?

Hi, I am on tray 1/13 and after week one the side of my mouth/lips have cracked an split. Each time I remove my aligners my mouth splits again. I have been using Cymex cream but it is not really helping. Is it normal for invisalign to cause this?

Cracked lips are usually cased by moisture at the corners of the mouth.  The  new trays may make you have more moisture there and this will break down the skin.  Mention it to your dentist and have them recommend some solutions.

Dear TracyD,Thank you for posting your question on Real Self.  I will do my best to answer your question with the information provided.It isn't abnormal in the first few stages of Invisalign to feel sores on the inside and outside of the mouth.  You do eventually adapt to the aligners.  There are ways to alleviate the discomfort while the sores heal such as lip balm, warm saltwater rinses, and orabase.
