Is it normal for breast reconstruction with implants to feel very firm and cold to touch still 4 years on?

Question

I had bilateral mastectomy with sub pectoral silicone implants (I believe textured) approx 4 years ago. My skin is thin generally and especially there as I had close margins with DCIS. I only had radiotherapy to the right side. From day 1 they have both been extremely firm, with the right side only marginally firmer. They are also very cold to the touch. I am thin and athletic and they are slightly larger than my own breast were, maybe a C? Is this normal or could I get a better result? Thanks.

Thanks for your question. If you have very little fat then likely your skin flaps are relatively thin. This makes the implant more easily felt. Depending on the size of the implant relative to the pocket it can feel tight- especially on the radiated side. Silicone implants don't always achieve the body temperature and so they can feel cooler in colder temperatures.

You could be developing a capsular
contracture.You should get evaluated by
a Plastic Surgeon to see if you need a revision surgery.
