Hi, I have had a couple of different quotes to have crowns put on for cosmetic dentistry 12 (6 upper and 6 lower). Both quotes are about the same price but different materials. One quote is for EMAX and one is for Zirconium. I also had another quote for Procera which was even more money. Can you advise me on the difference between the materials used for crowns. I want to make an educated decision on which dentist to choose.

Yes, it is possible to drill through an EMAX crown. need a special bur ideally an an adept clinician with good skills. There is always the risk of weakening the porcelain and possible fracture, but that is pretty rare.
Without any xrays, it is hard to say, but I can suggest you change that crown and you will not need to touch the gums, that way they would be even, and looking healthy, taking x rays in different angles would help, to see the crown adjustment also, Hope this helps.
Hi:Depending on where the chip is, you might be able to get a composite filling. However if the chip on the cusp most likely you either need an onlay or a crown.Best,Dr. Maddahi
