Lip atrophy due to implant removal? (Photo)

Hello dear Dr I am 30 YO female. I always had a full beatiful lips. I had a dental implant which was removed 4 months ago. My face changed drastocally for the worse since then. My cheek sunk, but the most scarier part- i start few weekd ago to nothice a lip shrinking / atrophy (both upper and lower) in the side of the removal. I also lost a lot of bone. I am now waiting for my surgery which is bone graft and in 6-7 months a new implant. I am so worried that it is not reversable. TYI

The tooth that they want to shave is a wisdom tooth. The correct thing to do would be to remove the wisdom too, graft the site and place an implant that will give you a molar size tooth. Retaining that tooth even with the adjustment will potentially compromise the health of the implant....

Hello. An implant located in the bone is usually not infected, but if you smoke, bone resorption and infection may occur around the implant. Therefore, if your implant arises into the mouth by prosthetic components such as healing caps or abutments, this will be even more important, so take care...
